How Many Meters of Cloth Are Needed for a Men's Suit?
Short answer: A men's shalwar kameez needs about 4 meters of Wash & Wear, 4.5 meters of Cotton, and 7 meters of Latha or Karandi. These lengths fit most men up to around 6 feet. Taller or broader men, or anyone wanting a very wide shalwar, should add half a meter to one meter.
Why do different fabrics need different lengths?
Fabric width (arz) and the style it is stitched in change the length. Latha and Karandi are traditionally stitched with a fuller shalwar and longer kameez, so they need 7 meters. Wash & Wear is usually wider, so 4 meters is enough.
